B Ed Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility requirement for a Bachelor of Education course varies from university to university. However, the overall criteria or the basic requirement remains the same. The following are the eligibility norms to pursue the Bachelor of Education course.
- The candidates must have completed their bachelor’s degree or master’s degree or any equivalent degree in any stream from a recognised university.
- The candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% overall marks from a recognised university in any relevant stream at the bachelor level.
- The candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% overall marks from a recognised university in any relevant stream at the postgraduate level.
- Candidates belonging to any reserved category (SC/ ST/ PwD) are given a relaxation of 5% in the overall marks obtained in a relevant degree to pursue a Bachelor of Education course.
- There is no specific age limit for pursuing a Bachelor of Education course in particular. However, some colleges do ask for a minimum of 21 years of age to pursue a BEd course.
- Above all, it is essential to qualify the related Bachelor of Education entrance examination to seek admission into a Bachelor of Education course.
Apart from the above mentioned general criteria, there are some standard eligibility norms for top universities to pursue Bachelor of Education course. Some of those have been given below:
- To pursue a Bachelor of Education course in Delhi University the candidate is required to choose a subject category (science, language, social science, home science etc) and take one teaching subject during the admission process.
- In the case of the University of Calcutta, for the fresher candidate (one with no teaching experience), there is an upper age limit of 40 years. Candidates from the reserved categories are allowed a relaxation of 5 years.
- In order to enrol in Bachelor of Education (Nursery Education) in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, 45% aggregate marks in the postgraduate degree is required.
